The Stamp Act

Greenvilles attempts to begin paying off the national debt were at unsuccessfull until The Stamp Act was passed and put into affect. The stamp act put a tax on all paper products from letters, to newspapers, and al types of documents. The people were very upset about the stamp act because they felt that the government was treating them as slaves because they were not consulted before the law was put into affect so they retaliated.
Every town had an enforecer whom the people were to buy their stamps from so that was the first person towns targeted. Their first open threat was to Oliver whom they made a dummy of and proceeded to hang it from a tree, walk it around the streets, and then behead it. The official stayed hidden overnight and resigned from his position the next morning.
The Sons and Daughters of Liberty did things from very differently but both were effective in their own ways. The Sons marched around and pushed the buttons of the soldiers and officials until they eventually pushed back in the Boston Massacre. The women on the other hand protested in a much more lady like way if you will. They simply stopped drinking tea and began making as much clothing and going with the things they truely did not need to decrease imports of goods.
When they were finally heard and the laws were changed the people were somewhat happy but not fully. They still had wants that hadn't been addressed and were determined to make them heard.
